It’s well known that you only get one chance to make a first impression. This applies to homes, too! But it goes beyond curb appeal. Welcoming guests into the foyer of your home can give them a quick hint to the vibe of the rest of the house. Changing up seasonal decor is one way to make your foyer welcoming to your summertime guests. Here are a few trending ideas!

Floral Accent Walls

The biggest thing to happen to home decor since, um, sliced bread, is removable wallpaper. Peel-and-stick wallpaper makes it insanely easy to change the vibe of a whole space in a really affordable way. One huge summer decor trend is to commit to a floral accent wall. Wallpaper is the easiest way to do this! Plus, we think it’s really fun to try and say ‘floral foyer’ ten times fast.

Establish a Drop Zone

Entryways are notorious for being a catch all for everything you discard once entering the home. Shoes, boots, coats, backpacks, purses, scarves, etc. Not to mention anything your kids may be toting like skateboards or pool bags. A key to an efficient home is noticing these trends. If we can recognize the tendencies (i.e.: to unload everything off your person the second you step in the door), we can embrace it instead of swimming upstream trying to change it. Accept that it’s going to happen and create an aesthetic drop zone. Custom cabinetry with hooks, hidden bench storage, cubbies, and baskets embrace the natural urge to drop everything in the foyer without making it look cluttered.

Entryway Beds

Foyers can often be devoid of any soft surfaces and we think this does a disservice to your guests. Ever try to get your shoes back on while awkwardly holding onto the wall, hobbling on one leg like a flamingo? Just me? Well, let it be known that guests appreciate a soft place to sit while gathering their things. Think outside the box and opt for a trendy linen daybed! It’s unexpected and very on-trend.
