A Taste of Swiss Life in NC...

In a now viral video, Durham resident Zachary Keesee posted a humorous and satirical video on TikTok purposefully mislabeling a mountain in Switzerland as if it were actually located in Gastonia, NC. Keesee’s TikTok account is full of the same. He takes vacation destinations all over the world and jokingly makes it seem like they are located here in North Carolina. In fact, the entire series is dubbed “Not Carolina.” 

This harmless fun went a little haywire last week, however, when a woman from South Florida didn’t get the joke. Olivia Garcia drove with her family from Jupiter, Florida to Gastonia, North Carolina during winter storm Izzy. Expecting a snowy wonderland, she instead found the only mountainous feature nearby: the hiking loop at Crowder’s Mountain. 

Thankfully, once realizing her mistake she was able to laugh it off and share the story with The Charlotte Observer. Now, the Charlotte-metro may not be Switzerland but like the idyllic European country we too have stunning lake views.
