Niche is a Pittsburgh-based data analysis firm that puts out annual lists on a variety of things. Everything from the best k-12 schools in a city, state, or even nationwide, to the best neighborhoods in which to live. Recently, they ranked the suburbs in and around Charlotte. Which Lake Norman towns made the list?
While the top 20 is wide and varied, spanning everywhere from Tega Cay, SC to University City North, one Lake Norman town broke not on the top 10 but the top 5. That town is none other than the darling Davidson!

Claiming the No. 5 spot as the best place to live in the Charlotte area, Davidson (with its population of nearly 13,000) ranks highly in all categories. Their public schools received an A rating from Niche while housing received an A-. Nightlife, crime & safety, and diversity received B ratings but the town as a whole received an A+.
What makes Davidson so great? It’s a small lake town only 15 minutes from one of the largest cities in the country. So you have slow easy living day-to-day, yet access to all the exciting amenities of a bustling metropolis. There are adorable restaurants, coffee shops, and stores, a very active lifestyle with hiking and running trails and all the watersports of Lake Norman, as well as a focus on high quality education with Davidson College campus being right in the main part of town.
